Special Interest Group for Biologicals Registration
The Special Interest Group (SIG) for Biologicals Registration is a collaborative development effort in which leading pharmaceutical organizations will guide Accelrys' creation of a solution for the identification, registration, storage, searching and Intellectual Property (IP) protection of biological entities.
Due to the dynamic nature of biological entities,
requirements for biological registration systems are inherently more complex than those for chemical registration systems, which are commonplace in the market. The SIG model therefore enables Accelrys to leverage the collective knowledge and expertise of the SIG participants in order to develop a solution that addresses the complex challenges involved with developing a biological registration system.
Phase I: Identification Biologicals Registration System Requirements
During phase one of this collaborative effort, SIG members will help to clearly identify requirements for the registration of biological entities.
Phase II: Development of a Biologicals Registration Solution
Working from the requirements identified in Phase I, Phase II will focus on the development of a customized biological registration solution, which will be made available to SIG members. Current plans call for a solution that will cover up to six biologic entities, including antibodies, proteins and cDNA; however, SIG members will guide the overall direction of development efforts, including the specific entities that will be addressed.
